Я общался недавно с америкосом, как раз Детройтцом, он говорит что в основном все гон, типа да, у города много проблем, но это совсем не руины, которые показывают по тв. Вот диалог:

In other words it started out as childish pranks. In the 70's and 80's as crime started to rise in the city, more serious acts happened. "Gangs" would burn down abandoned houses, etc. It got to the point where hundreds of house fires would be reported in a single night. With the major media picking up the story, Americans across the nation would see images from helicopters of dozens of flaming buildings set against the night. By the 90's the city really started cracking down. They started calling the night before Halloween Angel's Night. A strict curfew was set up for children under 18 and thousands of volunteers patroled the streets. In the last 10 years, the number of fires that occur on Angel's Night is about the same as what you'd see on any given night. In other words, it's a non-issue. And one of the many urban legends often spread about the city. On a side note, it's often viewed that many of the fires in the 70's and 80's were set by suburban homeowners who were looking to collect the insurance on their unsold house. They were able to use Devil's Night as an excuse. In other words, it wasn't gangs setting fires, it was the homeowners who would blame the gangs. i want to ask you, americans. i mean u know the current situation in your country much better that anyone. I've been told that Detroit is a very poor city today, there were some reasons for white people to migrate to the southern part of the city, and i've read that the main population of the city now are non-white people. And that is too bad for crime level, there are drugs on the streets now, i just can't believe that all non-white people are so bad i mean i doubt that they can harm the city like that. What is this? the real trouble or the ears spread by some racist mass media? I nowise do not want to offend anyone by this post. I respect all people, with no exception. (Зогнул ) Detroit's population is primarily African American (about 80% of the city as a whole, but most neighborhoods are well over 90% black) While crime is a large problem in the city, it has everything to do with poverty. Detroit's racial history and lack of opportunity for young black Detroiters might lead some to crime, but you have to remember that most citizens of Detroit are hard-working regular people. There are quite a few middle-class neighborhoods all throughout the city and even a handful of wealthy neighborhoods.
